It’s no secret that tech jobs pay handsomely…but some salaries are more handsome than others. Below are 11 tech careers where you’re pretty much guaranteed a 6-figure earning potential in the United States. Salary numbers are the national average salaries in the US, as reported by Glassdoor.

1. Devops Engineer: $100,000
Devops engineer is a hybrid role; there is no set career path, but a similar skillset is required for anyone in the position. Core skills/responsibilities include coding, systems and IT operations experience, data management, automation tools, and communicating and collaborating with others.
2. Android Engineer: $100,813
Android engineers, or developers, develop applications for devices on the Android operating system. An Android developer needs to be a pro at Java, know Android SDK, and be able to build across various versions of Android. He/she should also be comfortable working with “RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services,” according to Toptal.
3. Database Architect: $101,859
A person in this role determines, develops, and maintains databases. Core competencies include database design, security, and management. Database architects decide which database management system (DBMS) should be implemented for their company. DBA Jack Vamvas says, “The database architect is concerned with performance, optimisation, capacity planning, data storage techniques and DBA (database administrator) challenges.”

A business intelligence architect handles large amounts of information, using data to analyze progress, manage project objectives, and set company goals. They often manage the central data warehouse, lead teams of developers, and create reports and participate in meetings to suggest better business processes to implement based on their findings.
5. Data Architect: $106,680
This role is similar to database architect; however, a data architect observes the wider use of data within a company. Must have an understanding in data analysis, data migration tools, data modeling, database design, and more.
6. Product Manager: $108,659
Product management is a hybrid role that can mean different things depending on the company. Usually, they work across teams — engineers, designers, and other key players — to ensure that a new product/feature gets built on time and within budget. The job requires an intersection of business, technology, and user experience expertise; because of this, product managers tend to wear many hats. In fact, they’re so useful that Quartz reports it’s the highest-paid career in Silicon Valley.
7. iOS Engineer: $110,000
iOS engineers, or developers, design and build iOS applications. Like other kinds of software engineers, they are responsible for unit testing as well as bug fixing. Prospective iOS developers should have proficiency with Objective-C or Swift and Cocoa Touch, as well as experience working with frameworks like Core Data, Core Animation, Core Graphics, and Core Text.

8. Data Scientist: $113,436
Can you tell that data is a good industry to be in yet? In 2012 Harvard Business Review called data science the sexiest job of the 21st century, and it’s still a hot career to be in. Data scientists sift through massive amounts of unstructured data to find, organize, and analyze the information inside, reporting its significance and implications for the company and making suggestions based on patterns they find. They should be able to write code, solve problems creatively, and communicate their findings clearly (visually and verbally).
9. Software Architect: $118,593
“Holy grail of software” – In the software world, the architects are at the top of the company. They make the high-level decisions like what language/framework the company will use, what technical standards to adhere to, what tools to use, and so on. They have to think with a mix of business and technical considerations, strategize what approaches to take for a variety of different situations, and lead multiple teams. Leadership skills, technical know-how, strategic ability, and good communication are all essential.
10. Solutions Architect: $118,593
According to Vanessa Williams, a solutions architect is loosely defined. However, it’s generally “a customer-facing role at a software company, helping clients put together a deployment of the company’s product to solve a business problem.” Solutions architects need good soft skills to deal with clients, and must have a deep understanding of their company’s software in order to come up with a strategic plan for matching the product’s capabilities with the customer’s problems.
Software development managers design and develop entire software systems, usually for the military, business, scientific, and medical industries. They also generally lead a department and team, handle hiring/firing, and plan out the software-writing process. When they’re not working on new projects, they upgrade and debug existing software. Necessary skills include leadership, communication, information analysis, time management, and a great deal of technical expertise
